When we had our twins, "chaotic" was an understatement. We weren’t just parenting; we were survivalists. Our kitchen was a mess of drying racks, bottle parts, and we spent most of our time struggling to be organized and not overwhelmed by all the baby things we needed.
Fast forward to this time around with a newborn (baby number three, a singleton — which feels like a vacation by comparison), and in my opinion, we’ve finally cracked the code on what works best. We have reached Peak Organization (cue angels singing). If you’re tired of playing "find the vent insert" at 3:00 AM, here is our battle-tested system.
The secret to sanity is visibility. I’ve moved away from storing gear in cupboards and drawers and transitioned to a stackable, clear drawer system. What I like about these stackable drawers is that it’s easy to tell where everything is (so you can know exactly when you’re running low on clean supplies), they’re easy to clean/wipe down, and most importantly — it’s modular, so you can adjust them to your needs and get the ones that work best for you. They stack perfectly.
No one wants to turn on the overhead lights at 2:00am to make a bottle. It’s jarring for your bleary eyes, you risk waking up the baby, and the more automated things are, the easier.
We put a battery-powered motion sensor light on the drawer organizers. They automatically turn on when you’re frantically making a bottle and provide just enough glow to see what you’re doing.
If the storage drawers are the backbone, the Baby Brezza Formula Pro is the heart of the operation. When your babies are red-faced, fussing or screaming in the middle of the night, the last thing you want to do is fumble with level scoops, figuring out the right amount of water, and shaking or stirring the bottle. This machine is essentially a Keurig for babies; it’s programmable to dispense a perfectly mixed milk bottle in about 15 seconds.
If you have picky babies that care a lot about the temperature of their bottles, you can preset the water to room temperature, body temperature, or "warmer than body temp.” It eliminates the "is this too hot?" wrist-test anxiety and gets a bottle to your baby bosses ASAP.
I have written about this before, but I will shout it from the rooftops: Get an automatic bottle washer. It’s expensive but it’s so worth the money and space it takes up. You can use the dishwasher when they get older, but when they’re young, you have to sterilize the bottles. You will wash and sterilize about 1,400 bottles in the first two months of life.Twins will drink between 5,000 to 6,000 bottles in their first year of life (no, seriously). If there is one fancy piece of baby gear I would recommend, this is it.
Okay, but should you get the Momcozy KleanPal Pro bottle washer or the Baby Brezza Bottle Washer Pro ? I spent way too much time researching and debating between the Momcozy and the Baby Brezza. Based on my research, both are fantastic. I ultimately went with the Momcozy because it drains directly into the sink, so it simplified things a bit more.
I hope this system helps you reclaim your sleep. Best of luck — you’ve got enough on your plate as it is!
